Why I Love Canva
Prior to discovering how awesome Canva is, I would have my covers made with Photoshop, and journals and planners I would create with PowerPoint. There is nothing wrong with either of these programs - in fact, PowerPoint is amazing for printables.
But there are some unique benefits I personally think you can get by using Canva, which is why I have started using it for editable covers, graphics, and now my journals and planners. The Gratitude Bundle was the first where I decided to create a journal with Canva, and people are loving it so far!
Some things to know about Canva:
Before I tell you why I love using it, here are some things to know about Canva:
1. You can use the free version, but get more with Pro. The upgrade I believe is only $12.95 a month, and if you plan to use it regularly, is completely worth it. There are a lot more font and image options, and if you are using it for business, you get extras like creating a brand kit. You an also add team members to your account if you have people on your team helping to make graphics for you.
2. Each new design can include up to 100 pages. If you decide to use Canva for a printable journal or planner, you will be able to add up to 100 pages only. Just something to keep in mind if you were creating a journal that might have gone over 100 pages.
What I love about Canva:
This is definitely not a comprehensive list, but they are some of my favorite features and why I like to use it.
1. Color matching when you add images. This is by far one of my favorite things about using Canva, and something I didn't even notice in the beginning. When you create a design, you can add any image to it, and then use color matching. This allows you to match fonts and design elements with the colors in the images you want to use. It saves a LOT of time in looking for colors that match.
My favorite part of the color matching? You can blend the background of an image with the background of a design in Canva seamlessly. It's amazing.
2. Finding fonts is so easy. You can definitely just scroll the fonts like you do with any program to find the one you want to use, but you can also type in styles of fonts in Canva, and find ones that fit that style. Styles such as:
Cursive
Modern
Retro
Script
This has also saved me a lot of time, and helped narrow down what I'm looking for.
3. It is easy to resize designs in Pro. This is only for the pro version of Canva, but again it really makes it worth it. You can open any design you have created (or a template you are customizing), click on Resize, and you get lots of different options. If you buy a bundle that includes Canva templates for Pinterest, but you want to use them for Instagram or another purpose, it's super easy to just resize it to what you
need.
I still think PowerPoint is more advanced when it comes to layouts, especially in creating tables, but Canva also has some unique benefits.
Okay, that's all I have for you today. I hope you have a great week!
